The children in Hastings have been having lots of fun with a variety of different activities.
The Babies have been looking at The Very Hungry Caterpillar, providing many different activities to enhance learning. They have created their own fruit kebabs, followed schemas of individuals play, crafts, story times and parent partnership of creating their own hungry caterpillar sock puppets (provided by families).
The Toddlers are focusing on transport following observation of interests. They enjoyed creating a large junk modelling train and learning about modes of transport and sharing experiences. Parents have been providing photos of their children on various transport which are now on display with children’s voices of their experience.
Pre-school have created a ‘café’ where they have been building on social skills, numbers, turn taking and healthy eating. They are also booking appointments in their role play hairdressers. The parents have been great in supplying recycled materials to support the role play and to enhance learning and imagination even further.
We have incorporated more cooking within the nursery across all three levels. Each room will be providing cooking sessions each week, allowing the children to share their cooking with their families. This week the children prepared jam tarts.
As a nursery we are working towards our HALO (Healthy Active Little Ones) award. Each staff member has been on relevant training, with more to come, to gain further knowledge and skills in supporting your child's health and well being. Leading on from the training sessions, we have also provided take home bags to fulfil further development and fun learning at home. The parents and children have given great feedback on these so far and are sharing some great photos, including tooth brushing.
